Assembly elections are due in UP next year. Every party has become active regarding this. However, in the meantime, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi seems to be away from Uttar Pradesh. Leaving social media posts, he came to UP only once after losing the Lok Sabha elections from Amethi. His last tour was on 3 October 2020. Then he along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi had come to meet the relatives of the victim in the Hathras gang rape case. Now BJP will make all these issues an election issue against Rahul. If BJP sources are to be believed, there is a preparation to surround Rahul and Congress in 5 points before the elections.
5 points that BJP will make weapons against Rahul
1. Didn’t come back after losing Amethi
During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi reached Amethi for the last time on 10 July.
After the defeat in Amethi at the hands of Smriti Irani in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi distanced himself from UP. Rahul had last reached Amethi on 10th July but never went after that. He won the Lok Sabha elections from Wayanad in Kerala and camped there. In the last 3 years, Rahul Gandhi kept going to Wayanad every 3-4 months, but he did not even look back towards Amethi. Now BJP is preparing to make it an election issue against Rahul Gandhi and Congress. BJP leaders say that a person who can forget his people after losing an election, with what mouth will he talk about the development of UP?
2. Comment on North Indians will become an issue
In Chennai, Rahul Gandhi commented on North Indians. There was a lot of controversy over this.
Rahul G andhi commented on North Indians in March 2019 at Stella Maris College for Women in Chennai. In response to a question, he had said, ‘If you go to Bihar or Uttar Pradesh and see the way women are treated there, you will be surprised. There are many cultural reasons for this. Tamil Nadu is one of the states where women are treated better. Rahul had said that the condition of South Indian women is much better than that of North India. BJP is preparing to make this statement an election issue again.
3. Congress reached zero straight from 44 in Bengal, lost in other states too
Congress fought elections in Assam, Kerala, West Bengal, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. In this, except Tamil Nadu, the Congress had to face a bad defeat in all other states. In Bengal, the Congress went straight from 44 to zero. In Assam, Kerala also could not do anything special. The Congress was also out of power in Puducherry. Earlier in the Bihar elections too, the Congress had to face a bad defeat. BJP is now trying to make it an election issue by calling it Rahul Gandhi’s failure.
4. The defeat of the SP-Congress alliance in 2017
Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi formed an alliance during the 2017 assembly elections.
During the tenure of the Samajwadi Party government, in the 2017 assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav fought together against the BJP, but were badly defeated. BJP is again preparing to go among the people in the elections by reminding them of the alliance between the two.
5. Organization weakening, Priyanka became people’s choice instead of Rahul
Instead of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi has now taken over the command of UP.
Another big reason for Rahul’s distance from UP is that the Congress has become very weak here. Congress was once the strongest link in the politics of UP, but for the last 30 years it has remained the weakest link. Only a few people are included in the team from block to district level. Rahul Gandhi’s image is also bad in UP. People and Congress leaders like Priyanka Gandhi more than her.
BJP’s taunt – Rahul not worth showing his face
BJP has taken a jibe at Rahul’s distance from UP. State BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi said, “The manner in which Rahul Gandhi has been defeated, he no longer considers himself worthy of showing his face to UP. He is very disappointed and frustrated with the continuous defeat. That is why he has put forward his sister Priyanka Vadra. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra should face the tough challenge of Uttar Pradesh from here, because she herself failed to face the tough challenge of Uttar Pradesh, so she has put her sister forward.
Congress President said – Rahul is settled in the hearts of the people
Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu hit back at the BJP leaders. Said, Rahul Gandhi lives in everyone’s heart. Today only Rahul ji is raising the issues of the country. BJP leaders are scared to answer Rahul Gandhi’s questions. All of us are continuously active in UP under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
