Naseeruddin Shah told that Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Banu had recently visited him at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. Naseeruddin was admitted to the same hospital after he developed pneumonia and Dileep was also admitted to the same hospital before his death last week. Dilip Kumar died on 7 July after a prolonged illness. He was admitted to the hospital on June 30 after he complained of breathlessness.

Naseeruddin told in an interview- “Saira had come to meet me, s he put her hand on my head and blessed me and said – sir was asking about you. I was very shaken. I wanted to meet him before leaving but unfortunately From the day I went, he also left. Naseeruddin Shah was also admitted to the hospital around the same time and he was also discharged on 7th July.


Recalling his early days in Mumbai, Naseeruddin revealed that Dilip Kumar once told him not to pursue a career in acting. Dilip told him, “I think you should go back and study. People from a good family should not try to become an actor.” Naseer was not in touch with his parents at that time. However, his family caught him through Dilip Kumar.

His family knew the actor through his father’s eldest sister Sakina Aapa, who used to visit Ajmer, Naseer’s father was the administrator of Dargah Garib Nawaz.

Naseer was too scared to talk
Dileep and Naseeruddin finally worked together in Karma. Talking about his experience with the film, Naseeruddin said, “This is the time when I feel that I have been nervous while acting in my life. Apart from wishing in the morning, most of the time I was too nervous to talk to him.”
