The Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over the relaxation of the lockdown on Bakrid by the Kerala government amid increasing cases of Corona. The Supreme Court on Tuesday said, “Any kind of pressure cannot infringe upon the right to live, the most precious right of life of the citizens of India.” If any untoward happens, anyone including the public can bring it to our notice and action will be taken accordingly.
The court said, ‘It is shocking that the government is taking important decisions like relaxation in lockdown under pressure from business organizations. In such a situation, if due to the relaxation given in Bakrid, the speed of spread of cor ona infection increases and any person raises this issue before the court, then the court will not hesitate to take action.
The Supreme Court said, ‘We direct Kerala to pay attention to Article 44 along with Article 21 of the Constitution and take note of our decision regarding the Kanvad Yatra.’
Today is the last day of concession
However, the court did not pass any order on the cancellation of the notification of the Kerala government on the relaxation of the lockdown on Bakrid. Today is the last day of relaxation in lockdown. Senior advocate Vikas Singh, appearing for the petitioner, said that the court can pass any order in the matter. On this the court said that now it has no meaning.
Had a tough comment on the previous day too
Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court had made a strong comment on the decision of the Kerala government to relax the rules on Bakrid. A bench of Justice RF Nariman had said that at a time when there is a medical emergency in the state, the government’s decision to relax the rules is astonishing. The state government is playing with the lives of the people. It seems that in this critical time the government is preparing to push people to death.
Decided to relax restrictions for 3 days
In this case, BKD Nambir has filed a petition through advocate Preeti Singh. Actually, the Kerala government has decided to give relaxation in corona rules from 18 to 20 July on Bakrid. Kerala is currently witnessing a record increase in corona cases.
In the last 24 hours, 9,931 new patients have been identified here. Kerala tops in the cases of corona cases that came to the states on Sunday. On the last day, 58 patients have also died due to infection here.
