There has been good news about the corona vaccine amidst the possibilities of a third wave of corona in India. Soon the Serum Institute of India (SII) will also produce the Russian vaccine Sputnik-V. Serum is currently producing Corona Vaccine Coveshield in the country.
In this case, Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO Kirill Dmitriev told that SII will start production of Sputnik-V from September. Every year 30 crore doses will be prepared here. Some other manufacturers are also ready to produce this vaccine in India.
Permission was sought from DGCI last month
Earlier, SII had last month sought permission from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for a trial license to manufacture Sputnik-V. Along with this, SII also applied for Test Analysis and Examination. SII is the sixth company to manufacture Sputnik in the country.
Being used since May 14
Sputnik-V is also being produced in India by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. Sputnik-V has also received approval for emergency use from DCGI. The use of this Russian vaccine started from 14 May. Sputnik is now registered in more than 50 countries. According to a study, its effectiveness is 97.6%.
How special is Sputnik V?
So far 3 vaccines have been approved in India, know the difference between the three
It is built on the traditional inactivated platform. That is, in this the dead virus is put in the body. This triggers an antibody response and the body makes antibodies to recognize and fight the virus.
It is a viral vector vaccine. In this, a spike protein similar to the corona virus has been made from the adenovirus ChAD0x1 found in chimpanzees. It goes into the body and develops protection against it.
3. Sputnik V
It is also a viral vector vaccine. The difference is that it is made from two viruses instead of one. In this, both the doses are different, while there is no difference between the two doses of Covaxin and Covishield.
