The country’s largest telecom company Reliance Jio has added 47 lakh new customers in the month of April. On the other hand, if we talk about Bharti Airtel, 5.1 lakh new customers have been added in April. But Vi (Vodafone-Idea) has lost 1.8 million subscribers. There has also been a decrease in the number of subscribers of BSNL. With a decrease of 13.05 lakhs, it has reached 11.72 crores.
According to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the number of mobile subscribers of Reliance Jio increased by 47 lakh to 42.76 million in April. At the same time, the number of Vodafone Idea customers decreased by 18 lakhs to 28.19 crores. In March, the company had added 1 million new customers. Apart from this, the number of mobile subscribers of Bharti Airtel increased by 5.1 lakh to 35.29 crore in April.
April 0.19% increase in the number of users
TRAI said that overall the number of phone subscribers in the country in April increased by 0.19% to 120.34 crore as compared to the previous month. Urban phone subscribers grew by 0.08% and rural subscribers by 0.32% during the month.
The number of broadband subscribers also increased
According to TRAI data, the number of broadband subscribers increased to 782.8 million in April, an increase of 0.61% over the previous month. The top 5 companies accounted for 98.8% of the total broadband subscribers at the end of April. These include Reliance Jio Infocomm (43.04 crore), Bharti Airtel (19.41 crore), Vodafone Idea (12.25 crore), BSNL (2.45 crore) and Atria Convergence (18.7 lakh).
Vodafone may have a loss of 6,629 crores in the June quarter
In the first quarter of the current financial year i.e. between April and June, Vodafone may face a tremendous setback in telecom companies. It may have a loss of Rs 6,629 crore. However, Jio and Airtel will remain in profit. According to the reports of various brokerage houses, Vodafone will suffer huge losses due to the drop in data consumption and free recharge offers.
The company had a loss of more than 7 thousand crores in the January to March quarter, while the loss will be close to the same in the June quarter. Its revenue can be Rs 9,324 crore. There was a revenue of Rs 9,608 crore in the March quarter. Similarly, the earning per customer can be Rs 105, which was Rs 107 in March. That is, behind every customer there is a loss of two rupees.
