The ongoing application process of Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for recruitment to 5,858 posts of clerks in various banks has been put on hold. The application process for recruitment to these posts had started on July 12, but at present it has been stopped. In fact, the Ministry of Finance has stopped this recruitment process being conducted by IBPS after a language dispute, which will be resumed as soon as it is resolved.
Recruitment process halted due to language dispute
According to media reports, in the notification issued for recruitment to the posts of clerk, IBPS has announced to conduct examination in English and Hindi language only for recruitment to these posts of clerk. Because of this many states have started opposing it. There is a demand from the candidates of these states that this examination should be conducted in other languages also. After which the Finance Ministry stopped it due to language dispute.
committee has been constituted
After the language controversy started regarding this IBPS Clerk exam, the Finance Ministry has constituted a committee on the demand to conduct the exam in other regional languages. According to a statement issued by the Finance Ministry, this committee will look into the entire matter and submit its report within 15 days. Until the committee submits its report, the current examination will not be conducted by IBPS.
