The government’s troubles are increasing in the alleged spying case from Pegasus spyware. Meanwhile, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has targeted the Modi government. “It is very clear that Pegasus Spyware is a commercial company that works on paid contracts. So the question is bound to be who gave him the money for the operation? If not the Government of India then who? It is the duty of the Modi government to make the people of India aware of the truth.

After this, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh said that Pegasus is a product, NSO is a commercial company of Israel. One of your favorite countries. You are the only person who can extract the facts which you want to know from Modi-Shah and NSO. Who paid them? This question is absurd.

Write a letter to Israeli PM Modi: Swamy
At the same time, Swamy said that if we have nothing to hide, then Prime Minister Modi should write a letter to the Israeli Prime Minister and find out the NSO Pegasus project. Also find out who spent it.

What is the whole matter?
Pegasus spyware, which was the cause of heated debate in Rajya Sabha in 2019, is once again in the headlines. The news portal ‘The Wire’ has claimed in its report that the Indian government has spied around 300 Indians from 2017 to 2019. These people include journalists, lawyers, social workers, opposition leaders and businessmen. The government hacked the phones of these people through Pegasus spyware. However, the government has clarified that all the allegations are baseless.

  • Forbidden Stories and Amnesty International, a Paris-based organization, have a list of about 50,000 phone numbers. These organizations claim that these are the numbers which have been hacked through Pegasus spyware.
  • Both these institutions have shared this list with 16 media organizations around the world. After weeks of investigation, it has been revealed that the governments of different countries are spying on many people including journalists, opposition leaders, businessmen, social workers, lawyers and scientists.
  • India’s name is also in this list. According to the report of the news portal ‘The Wire’, the names of 300 Indian people are included in the people who have been spied. The spyware Pegasus made by the Israeli company has been used for spying.

Central government cleaning
The Ministry of Electronics and IT has given clarification on this whole matter. The ministry has said that India is a strong democracy and is fully dedicated to the right to privacy of its citizens. The allegations of espionage against the government are baseless.

The company said – we do not deal with private companies
The company that made Pegasus says that it does not sell this software to any private company, but only gives it to the government and government agencies for use. This means that if it has been used in India, then somewhere the government or government agencies are involved in it.
