Anupam met Dilip Sahab at a party
Anupam told that one of his journalist friends had taken him to a party, in which many stars attended. He said, “I was amazed at that time. I was in Bombay for the last two years, but I was watching all the actors there. And suddenly when I saw Dilip sahab coming, I went to him and I Said, ‘Hello, sir’.”
Dilip sahib had probably mistook Anupam as his acquaintance.
Anupam further said that Dilip Sahab probably mistook him for an acquaintance. He says, “So he said, holding my hand, take it beside him like this, ‘Son, where do you live? Seen after a long time’. Now my hand is next to Dilip sahab and he is talking to everyone. And I’m following them like a clown.”
Dilip sahib talked to Anupam in a polite way
Anupam said that Dilip sahib was talking to him in a very polite manner, as he could not imagine that there would be a gatecrasher in the party. The actor said, “And I wanted the whole world to see me when Dilip Kumar sahib is holding my hand by his side.”
Yusuf Khan was introduced by Devika Rani as Dilip Kumar.
Dilip Kumar was born on December 11, 1922 in Peshawar (now in Pakistan), British India. Dilip Sahab’s father Lala Ghulam Sarwar Khan and mother Ayesha Begum named their son Yusuf Khan. The film ‘Jwar Bhata’ was released in 1944. Through this film, Indian cinema’s first star actress Devika Rani introduced Yusuf Khan in the name of Dilip Kumar. Dilip is survived by his wife Saira Banu. Dilip Sahab was cremated with full state honors at Juhu Cemetery in Mumbai.
