The Delhi High Court on Friday said that if the vaccine is administered to children without conducting concrete research, its consequences are likely to be dire. The court said this while responding to a petition. However, the court objected to the petitioner’s demand that research related to vaccination of children should be done in a time bound manner. The court said that there can be no timeline for research.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh heard the matter. The counsel for the petitioner said that there should be a fixed timeline by when the vaccine trials of children will be completed. On this, the court said that if the petitioner made such demands, then the court would hide the matter itself. The court also said that there can be no timeline for such research.

Now the company is waiting for constitutional permission.
World’s first plasmid DNA vaccine
On July 1, the company had sought permission to use ZyCoV-D immediately. The company says that this is the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine. It will take three doses. It will also be a needle-free vaccine, which will be applied to the second layer of skin (dermis).
Biotech has also got permission for clinical trial
In the affidavit, the central government also mentioned that the Drug Controller General of India had given permission to Bharat Biotech for clinical trials of Covaxin on 12 May 2021. These trials will be done on healthy children aged 2 to 18 years. This affidavit was filed in the Delhi High Court by the Union Health Ministry on the petition of a girl child. The girl has demanded that the youth of 12 to 17 years be vaccinated immediately.
What is Plasmid DNA Vaccine?
Such curved molecules of DNA that can be used as a vaccine against many diseases are called plasmids. In plasmid DNA vaccine, plasmid DNA containing the coding sequence of the antigen is injected into the body. When this DNA reaches the tissue, its antigen is spread there in sufficient quantity to protect against further infection. Such DNA can replicate itself and has been shown to have effects against viruses, parasites and cancer cells in several animal models.
