Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh feels Mohammad Siraj should be picked in the playing XI over veteran pacer Ishant Sharma in the final of the World Test Championship. The final of the World Test Championship is to be played between New Zealand and India from 18 to 22 June in Southampton, England.
Harbhajan Singh said that Siraj is full of confidence, he also has the pace. In such a situation, he is a better option for the playing XI in the World Test Championship final. He said- If I was the captain, I would have entered the match with three fast bowlers. I would have preferred Mohammed Siraj over Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah as well as senior player Ishant Sharma.
Ishant Sharma is a talented bowler but Siraj is my favorite for this match. Because in the last two years, there has been a lot of improvement in the bowling of Mohammad Siraj. Recent demonstrations are examples of this. On the tour of Australia, he played a key role in India’s series win in the Brisbane Test by taking 5 wickets in the absence of senior bowlers.
Siraj is a better option according to the current situation
He said that the current circumstances will have to be seen before selecting the playing XI. Siraj’s form, pace and confidence make him the better option for this final match. If we look at the performance of the last 6 months, then there is a hunger in him to take wickets. At the same time, Ishant has come back after injury, although there is no doubt that he is the great bowler of Indian cricket.
If there is grass on the pitch, then Siraj can prove fatal against New Zealand due to his speed. I am sure the New Zealand batsmen will not find it easy to play him. Because he not only throws the ball at a fast speed, but he also has the skill to move the ball outward at the same speed.
KKR batsman Andre Russell was also upset with Siraj’s ball during IPL
He said that even during the IPL, Siraj has impressed him with his ball. Siraj harassed KKR batsman Andre Russell during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. I saw Siraj bowling very accurate yorkers and his line length was also very good. Whereas in 2019, Russell played short around the ground on his ball.
Ishant Sharma has taken 303 wickets
In 101 Test matches played so far, Ishant Sharma has taken 303 wickets at an economy rate of 3.17. Whereas Mohammad Siraj has taken 16 wickets in 5 Test matches played so far at an economy rate of 2.81.
