Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Thursday mentioned to the media the past stages of military and diplomatic talks between India and China.
India has clearly told China that there should be a complete withdrawal of troops from all avenues of confrontation. This is necessary for reducing tension between the two countries and for the full restoration of peace and stability in the border areas. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Thursday mentioned to the media the past stages of military and diplomatic talks between India and China.
He said that both sides agreed on the need to urgently resolve pending issues in accordance with existing agreements and protocols. “We have repeatedly stressed that a complete withdrawal of troops from other areas will pave the way for de-escalation of tensions between the forces on both sides,” Bagchi said. This will enable progress in bilateral relations.
It is worth mentioning that there is tension between the armies of India and China since May last year. To resolve this, the 11th round of commander level talks was held on 9 April. The last round of diplomatic-level talks under the framework of the Executive Advisory and Coordination Mechanism was held on March 12.
