Serum Institute of India (SII) will now make Russia’s Kovid Vaccine Sputnik V vaccine along with Kovishield. According to sources, the country’s Drug Regulatory Authority gave its approval on Friday. After this the company will be able to test and analyze the vaccine. So far, Sputnik-V is being manufactured by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories in India.
The company is currently increasing the supply of Coveshield
Recently SII wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It said that its employees are working round the clock despite many challenges. In the month of June, we will be able to manufacture and supply about 100 million doses of Kovidshield vaccine. Our production capacity in May was 6.5 crore doses.
World’s largest company to make serum vaccine
Serum Institute is the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer. So far it has sold 1.5 billion doses of different vaccines. This is also a kind of record. According to one figure, 60% of the world’s children have had some form of serum vaccine.
Serum vaccines supplied in 170 countries
The World Health Organization (WHO)-accredited Serum Institute of India (SII) supplies vaccines to 170 countries. The company also manufactures polio vaccines as well as vaccines for diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, HIV, BCG, R-hepatitis B, measles, mumps and rubella.
