The ongoing dispute between the central government and Twitter over the new IT rules deepened when Twitter removed blue ticks from the personal Twitter handles of several leaders, including Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat. Although the blue tick of the Vice President’s account was restored after a while, the accounts of other leaders still remain unverified. These include big names like Arun Kumar, Bhaiyaji Joshi and Suresh Soni of the Sangh.
After this, Twitter clarified that these accounts were not active for a long time. Therefore, under the verification policy, the blue badge was removed from them by unverifying them without any information. This is what started the controversy, because the Twitter accounts of many people including late former President Pranab Mukherjee, Congress leader Ahmed Patel, actor Irrfan Khan are still verified and shows are happening with blue ticks.
Apart from Bhagwat, the blue tick was removed from the Twitter handle of big leaders like Arun Kumar, Bhaiyaji Joshi and Suresh Soni of the Sangh.
This account is also not active for a long time
The last tweet from Pranab Da’s Twitter account was in August 2020 before his death. At the same time, Ahmed Patel’s account is not active since October 2020 and Irfan’s account is not active since May 2020. Their accounts are also not being maintained as memorial accounts. That is, after his death, his family members are not even using these accounts as an inheritance.
