The Indian Premier League (IPL) was suspended midway due to Corona. After this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced to organize the remaining 31 matches of the league in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Senior board officials, including BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, have also visited the UAE regarding the preparations for the league and are preparing plans with the cricket board there.
According to the report of Inside Sports, the play-off and final matches of the tournament can be played at the same venue. Dubai remains the board’s first choice for these matches. The reason behind this is being told the possibilities of the T20 World Cup to be held this year.
Due to these reasons BCCI is planning
8 to 10 double-headers can be made
The remaining 31 matches of IPL will also be held in three UAE cities Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. The board is planning to complete the league matches by September 30 at any cost. In this case 8 to 10 double-headers can be made. If you look at the previous schedule, now only 6 double headers are left.
IPL 2021 was stopped mid-season due to Corona
Earlier in the mid-season of IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Wriddhiman Saha, Delhi Capitals’ Amit Mishra, KKR’s Sandeep Warrier and Varun Chakraborty, CSK’s bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji and batting coach Michael Hussey were found to be corona infected. After this the league had to be suspended in the middle of the season itself.
