During the Corona epidemic, for the second consecutive year, the government has increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Kharif crops. The cabinet meeting approved the new MSP of Kharif crops. The MSP of sesame has been increased by Rs 452, that of tur and urad dal by Rs 300. The MSP of paddy (general) has been increased from Rs 1,868 per quintal last year to Rs 1,940 per quintal i.e. Rs 72 more. The Center will spend Rs 25,000 crore on the new MSP.
The MSP of 14 Kharif crops was increased on June 1 last year. In 2020-21, the MSP of paddy was increased from Rs 1815 to Rs 1868 per quintal.
MSP of millet increased to Rs 2250
MSP on bajra has been increased from Rs 2150 per quintal to Rs 2250 per quintal. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that in the last 7 years, big decisions have been taken in favor of the farmers so that the income of the farmers can increase and they can get happiness. MSP is declared from 2018 by adding 50% profit over cost.
Which crops come in Kharif crops?
Paddy (Rice), Maize, Jowar, Bajra, Moong, Groundnut, Sugarcane, Soyabean, Urad, Tur, Kulthi, Jute, Flax, Cotton etc. Kharif crops are sown in June-July. They are harvested in September-October.
