World No. 1 female tennis player Ashleigh Barty retired from the tournament in the second round of the second Grand Slam French Open of the year. When Barty decided to retire, she was trailing 1-6, 2-2 against Magda Linet of Poland.
Barty was struggling even in the first round match
Barty took medical treatment before retiring. But, as there was no improvement from this, he decided to retire. She was also struggling with a hip injury during the first round match. It is not yet clear how long he will have to stay away from tennis due to the injury.
Barty has also been a cricketer
Barty started her career in tennis as a professional sportswoman. But, in 2014, he took a break from the game due to excessive travelling. She then tried her hand at cricket and represented Brisbane Heat and Queensland Fire in the Women’s Big Bash League. In 2016, she returned to tennis again.
