Many cases of wastage of vaccines keep coming up continuously from many states of the country. Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also taken his tough stand regarding this. He held a high-level meeting on Friday regarding the status of corona and vaccine in the country. During this, he gave strict orders to the officials to stop the wastage of the vaccine.
PM Modi said in the meeting that in this era of epidemic, every vaccine matters. The more wastage, means that more people have lost their dose. That is why we have to stop every single waste.
Officials told Modi the roadmap for vaccine production
Many big ministers and officials including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Prakash Javadekar attended the meeting. All of them told PM Modi about the roadmap for vaccine production and the current status of vaccination in the country. Modi was told that the government is working closely with the company that makes the vaccine. All necessary things including raw material and financial assistance are being provided to the production units.

Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh at the fore in vaccine waste
Vaccines are being wasted in many ways. One of these is that many vaccine vials break even during transportation. Recently, the central government had also released a data saying that Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are wasting the maximum amount of vaccine. The central government had said 37.3% of vaccine wastage in Jharkhand and 30.2% in Chhattisgarh. However, on this the government of both the states had said that the central government does not have the correct data.
Rajasthan averages better in vaccine wastage: Ashok Gehlot
Recently, the central government accused the Congress government of Rajasthan of wasting 11.5 lakh doses of the vaccine. On this, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had told that according to Kovin, 1.63 crore vaccine doses were received in Rajasthan till 26 May, while 3.38 lakh doses were spoiled. This is much lower than the national average of 2% of total vaccinations, 6% of vaccine wastage and 10% of the average set by the Government of India.
Ruckus over photo of Mamta instead of Modi over vaccine certificate in Bengal
The Bengal government is putting a photo of Mamta Banerjee instead of Prime Minister Modi on the certificate of corona vaccine in the state. On this, the BJP said that the Trinamool Congress is looking for political opportunities even in the disaster. However, in the recently held assembly elections, Trinamool itself had criticized Modi’s photo on the certificate. Also complained to the Election Commission. On this, the BJP has retaliated and criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
