After Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, now home delivery of liquor can be done in Delhi also. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took this decision on Tuesday. According to the new excise rules, only L-13 license holders will be able to do home delivery of liquor.
Actually, this time in Delhi, long queues were seen at liquor shops before the lockdown. After this, the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies had demanded home delivery of liquor from the government.
863 liquor shops in Delhi, the minimum drinking age is 21 years
There are a total of 863 liquor shops in Delhi out of which 150 are in shopping malls. 475 shops are government and rest tenders have been handed over to private people. The Delhi government has already reduced the drinking age by 4 years. Earlier, the minimum age for drinking was 25 years, which has now been reduced to 21 years. The Delhi government had also come under the opposition’s target for this decision.
Home delivery of liquor only till lockdown in Maharashtra
During the lockdown, the Uddhav government had already given permission for home delivery of liquor. Home delivery of liquor is being done through online token system here. Licensed shops here can also sell beer and light liquor. The condition has also been laid for the delivery man to wear medical checkup, gloves and mask.
Home delivery started on May 10 in Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh had also decided to close these shops due to the increasing crowd at liquor shops. However, later on May 10, home delivery was given permission to reduce congestion and prevent infection. Home delivery time has been fixed from 9 am to 8 pm. However, DMs can make changes in time depending on the situation in their districts.
