Dr. Ashok Panagariya, a renowned neurologist and Padma Shri from the country and abroad, passed away at around 3:50 pm on Friday. Panagariya was battling post-Covid disease and was on ventilator for a long time.
After his condition worsened, he was brought on ventilator support from EHCC Hospital in Jaipur at around 2.30 pm at his residence, but after about a quarter of an hour the doctors declared him dead. About 10 days ago, his health deteriorated after taking the second dose of the vaccine.
According to sources close to Panagariya, his lungs were damaged due to Corona. After fighting Corona for 48 days, Dr. Panagariya finally lost the battle of life. Earlier, for his recovery, his close friends and people all over the country were praying for his speedy recovery.
For his treatment, a team of specialist doctors from India and abroad was engaged, including top most nephrologists, pulmonologists, physicians. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot himself is also keeping a constant eye on his health.

According to close sources, Dr. Panagariya started feeling the symptoms of Kovid on April 24, then he went to a private lab at JLN Marg and got HRCT done there. His score was 17 in the City Scan report, after which he himself was admitted to RUHS Hospital in Jaipur on 25 April. It is being told that after his health deteriorated there, he was shifted to EHCC Hospital located near Jawahar Circle Jaipur.
Health worsens after taking second dose of vaccine
According to the close of Pagadia, he had got the second dose of Covishield about 10-12 days before this disease by visiting SMS Hospital. After a few days after getting the vaccine, he felt the symptoms of Kovid and when he got tested, the corona was confirmed.
It is being told that he did not go out of the house much for the last one year. Last year in July 2020, even during his son’s wedding, only 15 people attended the program. The proposed wedding ceremony in Udaipur was done as a small event in Jaipur. Apart from this, Dr. Panagariya had also stopped seeing patients since last one year (since Kovid started), only giving counseling to patients online.
Received Padma Shri in 2014 and Dr. BC Roy Award in 2002
Neurologist Dr. Panagariya received the Merit Award from the Government of Rajasthan in 1992. He was the Head of the Department of Neurology at SMS. Was Principal from 2006 to 2010. In 2002, the Medical Council of India gave him the Dr. BC Roy Award. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2014. More than 90 of his papers have been published in the journal. He has also received a UNESCO Award for his medical and social participation. He has also received several Lifetime Achievement Awards.
