The Supreme Court has rejected the demand to cancel the final examination of post graduate medical across the country. A bench of Supreme Court Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice MR Shah said that they cannot issue an order to cancel the examination, as it is a matter of educational policy. During the hearing, the bench asked, ‘They will treat the patients. Anyway, how can the lives of patients be handed over to the doctors who did not take the examination? However, the court has issued notice to the Central Government and AIIMS on the demand of other demands such as promotion of medical students on the basis of internal assessment and formation of a joint expert committee on the issue. Actually, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of some doctors of the final year of the post graduate medical course. In this, the doctors had demanded to cancel the examination and declare their result on the basis of internal assessment. The court has fixed the next hearing in the matter on June 18.
