The multi-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam accused and fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi is adopting every trick to avoid coming to India. He is engaged in engaging political figures of Dominica to save himself through his brother.
According to Caribbean media outlet Associate Times, Mehul’s elder brother Chetan Chinubhai Choksi has bribed opposition lawmakers from Dominica to protect him. He has also promised to provide financial aid to opposition MPs in the elections to save Mehul from India.
About 2 hours meeting with opposition party leader Lennox Linton
According to reports, Chetan has a closed-door meeting with Dominica’s opposition party leader Lenox Linton for about 2 hours. In the meeting, he offered Linton that if the opposition helped to suppress the matter in Parliament, he would be helped in the election. It has been claimed in the report that Chetan has also given $ 2 lakh i.e. Rs 1.5 crore as token money to Linton. He has promised to pay more money in future.

Who is Chetan Chinubhai Choksi?
It is being told that Chetan Chinubhai Choksi is the elder brother of fugitive diamond merchant Mehul Choksi. He runs a company called Diminco NV, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Digico Holdings Limited. The company boasts of the largest retail business of integrated diamond and jewellery. Chetan was also seen outside the court in London in 2019 during a court hearing of Mehul’s nephew Nirav Modi.
Linton targets his PM and Antigua government
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, the leader of the opposition party in Dominica, Lennox Linton, has also targeted Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt over the arrest of Mehul Choksi. Linton questioned in the conversation why the Dominican government is involved in this case. Linton has also targeted Antigua-Barbuda Prime Minister Geston Brown. He said contrary to Brown’s statement that the Dominica government should not hand over Mehul Choksi to India.

An 8-member team under the leadership of CBI Chief Sharda Raut has reached Dominica in banking fraud cases to bring Mehul Choksi back to India. He was the one who headed the investigation of the PNB fraud case. The team includes two members each from CBI, Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CRPF. According to the report of NDTV, this team has reached there only on May 28 and will also help the public prosecutor during the hearing in the High Court on June 2.
