The ongoing confrontation between the Center and the Bengal government took a new turn on Monday. Bengal’s chief secretary Alapan Bandhopadhyay was called to Delhi by the Center on Monday morning, but he did not arrive. After this, the central government sent a show cause notice to Alapan at around 5.15 pm. A few minutes after this action of the Center, Mamta Banerjee retired Alapan from the post of Chief Secretary and made him the principal advisor.

Mamta said that HK Dwivedi has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary and BP Gopalika as the new Home Secretary. Mamta said that Alapan is retiring on May 31 and that he is not going to join Delhi. He has been made the Chief Advisor for 3 years. After this decision of Mamta, the Center also stuck to action. At six o’clock the Center said – even though Alapan is retiring, but we will take charge by sending him a charge sheet.

Despite the Centre’s call, Alapan stayed in Nabanna Bhavan
T hey reached Nabanna Building in Howrah. Here he was to attend a video conferencing involving Kovid Relief. Alapan did not leave for Delhi even after the video conferencing at around 10.30 am. By evening, the action of the center also became clear and Mamta also did a master stroke on it.


Bandhopadhyay arrived late in Modi’s meeting in Bengal
Alapan Bandhopadhyay arrived late for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting called on Friday to review the cyclone Yas. After this, orders were issued to call him to Delhi in the evening. Retired senior bureaucrats and legal experts believe that the Central Government may have ordered the Chief Secretary to report to Delhi, but this may be difficult to implement. It is in the power of the state government to relieve them. In such a situation, Mamata may refuse to send him to Delhi. And Mamta also did a master stroke.

Center issued an order to call Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Bengal on 28 May. They arrived to review the damage caused to the state by the Yas storm. At this meeting too, Chief Secretary Alapan Bandhopadhyay arrived late. While Mamta and Bandhopadhyay were present in the same building in which Modi’s meeting was going on. It was only after he arrived late that the Center issued an order to call him to Delhi.
