The third match of the four-Test series will be played between India and England from 24 February. This match to be held at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad is Day-Night. This is only the second day-night test played in India. Earlier in November 2019, there was a day-night match between India and Bangladesh in Kolkata. The match, played on a grassy pitch, ended on the third day and fast bowlers took 19 wickets.

However, the Indian team would not like the grassy pitch against England. It is possible that Virat and Co. wanted a pitch similar to the one in two day-night Test matches in the UAE city of Dubai. In those bouts in 2016 and 2017, the spinners performed better than the fast bowlers.

Spinners took 46 wickets in 2 Tests.
Fast bowlers in day-night cricket generally perform better than spinners, but this is not the case in Dubai. There have been two day-night Test matches in Dubai. One between Pakistan and West Indies and the other between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Among them, fast bowlers took 25 wickets and spinners took 46 wickets.

Yasir Shah took 15 wickets in two Tests
Pakistan’s leg-spinner Yasir Shah has taken 15 wickets in two day-night Test matches in Dubai. Apart from him, Devendra Bishu of West Indies took 10 wickets in 1 Test match there. Bishu is also a leg spinner like Yasir Shah. Sri Lanka’s left arm spinner Rangana Herath has taken 5 wickets while playing 1 day-night Test match in Dubai.

9 out of 15 Day-Night Tests lasted for four days or more, both matches in Dubai lasted till 5th day
With some day-night Test matches being over in three days, there is a perception that the Pink Ball Test does not take long. While Fact is telling a different picture. Of the 15 day-night Test matches played across the world so far, nine tests lasted four days or more. Five of these tests ended on the fifth day. Only 5 of the 15 tests have ended in three days. The only day-night test that has been completed in two days. Both day-night tests played in Dubai ended on the 5th day.
