Tripura CM Biplav Dev narrated an interesting anecdote at an event, which has now come under discussion. According to Biplav Dev, this story is from when BJP President Amit Shah used to be. The CM of Tripura said, ‘Amit Shah had come on a tour of Assam. There was a conversation between us that there is a BJP government in many states of the country. To this, Shah replied that Sri Lanka and Nepal remain. We should take BJP there too and win elections there too.
Opposition called Biplav’s statement as undemocratic
Biplab Deb’s statement came at a time when assembly elections are going to be held in 5 states of the country. These include Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, Puducherry and Kerala. The BJP now has a focus on these southern states. Many opposition parties, including the CPI (M), Congress, called Biplab’s statement unconstitutional. Said that such statements can have an impact on the relations of friendly countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka.
