After a long wait, Tata has finally launched the 2021 Safari in India. Its ex-showroom price is between Rs 14.69-21.45 lakh. The company has also started taking bookings for it. It can be booked for 30 thousand rupees. The new cleaning is based on Land Rover’s D8-derived Omega (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) architecture, which the company also offers in Harrier. In fact, the new Safari can also be called the stretched-out (stretched) version of the Harrier, with a slightly redesigned design with extra seats for seating.
MG Hector + and Mahindra XUV500 face challenge
The new Safari has been launched in 6 and 7 seat configurations. It is built slightly longer and higher to distinguish it from the 5 seater sibling harrier. The new Safari is 63 mm longer and 80 mm higher than the Harrier. Its front look has been redesigned, with chrome elements also added. It has 18-inch alloy wheels, which will see the same design as the Harrier. The rear will also get a redesigned look with new LED taillamps. 2021 Tata Safari will compete with MG Hector Plus and Mahindra XUV500 in the Indian market.

7-seat configuration will be standard
Talking about the equipment list, the new Safari’s top XZ + variant includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android auto support. It features JBL audio system with 9-speaker, seven-inch digital instrumentation, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheel with mounted control, push-button start / stop, electric parking braking with auto hold etc. . As a standard, the vehicle comes in a 7-seat configuration, with the 6-seat option available only in the top XZ + and XZA + variants.
Will get 2 liter four cylinder diesel engine
The new Safari for performance features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine similar to the Harrier, which generates a maximum power of 170 hp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The gearbox option is the same as the Harrier. The new Safari will get a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
All-wheel drive or hybrid variants are also expected to come
There is no all wheel drive option in it, which has disappointed the original Safari lovers. The company said that the Omega platform is ready for all-wheel-drive as well as electrified powertrains. It is expected that all-wheel drive or hybrid variants may be found in the future. Hybrid (or plug-in hybrid) variants are more likely to come, as the Indian automobile industry is slowly but steadily adopting electrification.
