Imprisoned in Central Jail
- Education center opened in Central Jail, Jabalpur on 20 January 2010, 1800 detainees have received benefits so far
Inmates of Jabalpur jail are now studying and also pursuing degrees. At Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Central Jail, 220 such detainees are completing their various courses and are now giving their exams. These detainees also include 30 women. The detainee examinations will be held till March 13. According to Jail Superintendent Gopal Tamarkar, the Center of Indira Gandhi Open University was opened on 20 January 2010 in the Central Jail. So far 1800 prisoners have taken degree-diplomas from various courses here.

According to the information, detainee examinations have started in the Central Jail from 08 February. For the session 2020-21, 190 male and 30 female detainees took admission in various courses conducted by Indira Gandhi Open University by 11 February. Linguistics and Hindi Language, Your food and its Utilities Fundamentals of Cost Accounting, Basis in Science and Technology, Government and Politics in East and South East Asia Social problems in India, Human Rights in India, Certification examinations in food and nutrition have been conducted. In the same way, examinations are being conducted on many other subjects.
ADG Jail said, centers will be opened in other jails too
Jail ADG Ashutosh Rai visited the courses and examinations of Prime Minister Skill Upgradation Training Center and Indira Gandhi Open University. He said that such centers will also be opened in other jails of the state. Presently, the prisons of the state are moving towards the prison as well as corrective homes. Physical, mental, social and vocational training is being provided to detainees here. In the same sequence, National Skill Development Corporation is imparting training to electricians, TV repairing, bakery etc. in Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Central Jail, Jabalpur.
This time 30 women are taking exams in Central Jail by taking admission in various courses.
School knowledge to diploma degree in education center
According to Jail Superintendent Gopal Tamarkar, the Indira Gandhi Open University, Delhi, which is open in the Central Jail, is taught in the center up to college level along with school courses. Inmates are also taught various types of employment and vocational courses. This center of Indira Gandhi Open University was opened in Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Central Jail, Jabalpur on 20 January 2010 and till now 1800 detainees have been educated in various courses. The convocation ceremony has also been held for the first time in jail history on 3 April 2019 in the Central Jail.
