Why the prices of petrol diesel are increasing

Since October, the price of crude oil has gone up by 50% to over $ 63.3. Crude oil has become costlier by 21% so far this year. One reason for inflation is that economic activity has opened up around the world and this has increased the demand for oil. However, this argument of the government is not correct. In January last year, crude oil prices were much lower than today, despite its people getting petrol diesel expensive.

Both state and central governments are earning

In contrast, the central excise duty on petrol was Rs 19.98 a year ago. It has now increased to Rs 32.98. Similarly, excise duty on diesel has increased from 15.83 to 31.83 rupees per liter. If the central government is earning, then the state governments also increased their taxes. They have increased VAT. In this way, both the central and state governments are raising the prices of oil.
