Due to this, India topped the women’s category. In the same category, Uzbekistan finished second with 2 gold medals and Czech Republic 1 gold. At the same time, India’s performance in the men’s category was disappointing. Only 2 Bronze medals were won by male boxers.
Vinca Woman became boxer of the tournament
Vinca was also awarded the title of Woman Boxer of the Tournament. Vinka won gold in the 60 kg weight category on Sunday. Late in the night, Babyrojisana Chanu won gold in the 51 kg weight category and Arundhati Chaudhary in the 69 kg weight category. Apart from these, T. Sanmacha Chanu gave India gold in 75 kg and Alfia Pathan category in 81+ kg category.
Baby Chanu and Arundhati give India 2 gold
Three-time Khelo India gold medalist Arundhati defeated Ukraine’s Mariana Stokio 5–0. At the same time, Baby Chanu, who was training at Merikom’s Training Academy in Imphal, defeated Asian Junior Champion Sabina Bobokulova Karo 3-2 of Uzbekistan. However, in the 64 kg weight category, Lucky Rana lost the final. They were beaten by Lia Pukila 5–0.
India with 12 medals in medals tally is second
19 players from India participated in the tournament. India finished second in the overall medals tally with 12 medals. Uzbekistan finished first and Ukraine finished third. Thanks to this performance, India also got the opportunity to prepare for the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championship. The AIBA Championship will be held in Poland from 10 April to 24 April.
