Former Union Minister and Congress leader Satish Sharma died in Goa on Wednesday. 73-year-old Satish Sharma was an MP from Rae Bareli and Amethi. From 1993 to 1996 he was the Minister of Petroleum at the Center. He is considered very close to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Became MP for the first time from Amethi in 1991
Captain Satish Sharma was born on 11 October 1947 in Secunderabad, Telangana. He studied at Colonel Brown Cambridge School, Dehradun. After this, he received training as a pilot. After the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi in 1991, Congress gave Satish Sharma the Lok Sabha ticket from Amethi. Satish Sharma won this election. After this, between 1993 and 1996, he was also the Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister.
