Indian Railways can resume all trains from April 1, 2021. For this, the railway has made complete preparations. The railways closed all trains on 25 March 2020 in the national lockdown due to the Corona epidemic last year. Shortly thereafter operations of some special trains were started. At present, around 65% trains are running across the country.
Holi is on March 29 this year
Actually, Holi is falling on 29th March, in which there is a huge demand for trains. In such a situation, passengers do not have to bother this time due to less trains, in view of this, the railway can start some more passenger trains.
Currently Kovid special trains are running
The railways had stopped operating trains last year because of Corona, but now efforts are being made to start trains slowly. Currently only special special trains are running. At present, 704 local trains are running on the Western Railway route of Mumbai, through which about 3.95 lakh passengers are traveling. There are also 706 local trains running on the Central Railway route, due to which about 4.57 lakh passengers are traveling.
More than 83% of railway tickets booked through IRCTC
IRCTC has added Auto Pay (AutoPay) feature to its payment gateway i-Pay, through which users will take less time to book tickets. Apart from this, the refund time has also been reduced in case of Tatkal tickets being auto-canceled. More than 83% of railway tickets are booked through IRCTC.
Indian Railways has 2.30 crore people on a daily basis
Before Carona, there were 2.30 crore people traveling daily in the country, which is the highest in the world. About 6.9 million people train daily in China. 843 crore people traveled in the country in the financial year 2018-19.
