The number of corona cases in the country has been positively affected by the number of air travelers. Also, increasing the capacity of passengers in airlines is also benefiting. As a result, the number of air travelers in January increased by 5.5% compared to December.
Number of passengers 39% less than last year
The domestic aviation industry is recovering on a monthly basis, but it is still significantly lower than last year. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the total number of air passengers in January was around 77.34 lakhs as against 127.83 lakhs in the same period last year. That is, the number of passengers was reduced by 39.50%.
Decrease in corona cases will increase the number of passengers
In December, the central government raised the limit of domestic flights from 80% to 80%. According to experts, as the cases of corona will reduce and people will be comfortable to travel by air, the number of passengers will increase. The number of corona infections in India has reached 1.09 crore. 1.06 crore people have been recovered, while 1.34 lakh are active cases. The death toll from Corona in the country is 1.56 lakh.
On Thursday, Interglobe Aviation (Indigo) stock closed down 2% and SpiceJet fell 0.23%, while Jet Airways gained 5% to close at Rs 104.25.
