How are the players shortlisted for the IPL auction?
A player is involved in the auction through which stops. Bhavaskar told this about wicketkeeper-batsman Manvinder Bisla, who played IPL from 2009 to 2015. Firstly, for the registration of players, roughly four types of procedures are adopted for this.
Shortlisted players are part of the auction after registration
Bisla explains that after the registration process is complete, BCCI sends the list of players to all the franchises. Franchises send a choice of players’ names according to their needs. If a player is not included in the choice of any franchise, he is removed from the final auction list.
Apart from the list of registered players, the franchisees can also recommend names of some players to be added on their behalf. If the player and his board are ready, then that player is also included in the auction.
This time out of a total of 292 players in the auction, 17 players like Corey Anderson of New Zealand, Sean Marsh of Australia, Morne Morkel of South Africa have been included in the auction list after the recommendation of franchises.
