In Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, 14 people died in a bus-truck collision on Sunday morning. At the same time, 4 people are seriously injured. All the injured children are said to be in serious condition, 2 of them are in critical condition. The accident occurred around 3:30 to 4 am near Madarpur village in Veladuri mandal, 25 km from Kurnool. The dead included 8 women and a child. The bus was going from Chittoor district to Ajmer in Rajasthan.
Four children survived in the accident
Superintendent of Police, Kurnool Fakirappa said that there were 18 people in the bus, who were going to Ajmer in Rajasthan for pilgrimage. Four children survived the accident, who are injured. The condition of two of them is said to be critical.
Initial investigation has revealed that the bus overturned after hitting the road divider and collided with the truck coming from the front on the other side of the road. The collision was so strong that rescuers had to use machines to retrieve the bodies from the bus.
The deceased were residents of Chittoor
The police has collected the information of the victims from the Aadhaar card and other documents found in the vehicle. He belonged to three families of Madanapalle in Chittoor district and was going to Ajmer Dargah. Police believe that the driver was sleepy and was driving at a high speed, leading to the accident.
On Saturday, 4 people were killed when the bus fell into the abyss.
Earlier on Friday, a bus carrying more than 20 passengers fell into the ditch at Anantagiri near Araku in Visakhapatnam. Four people died and 13 were injured in the accident.
