1) Sunil Gavaskar became the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in Tests
The first magical cricketing moment in Motera is named after India’s first superstar batsman, Sunil Gavaskar. On 7 March 1987, Little Master had completed 10,000 runs in Test cricket by scoring 58 runs against Pakistan. Gavaskar became the first batsman to do so in Test cricket.
The funny thing is that after completing his 10,000 runs, the audience came to the ground to wish him. Due to this, the match had to be stopped for some time. Gavaskar batted 242 minutes in the match and scored 63 runs in 170 balls with the help of 6 fours. However, the match was a draw.
Kapil created a record on 8 February 1994. He broke the record for the highest Test wicket taking by former Australian cricketer Sir Richard Headley. After doing this, Kapil accepted the greetings of the audience.
2) Kapil Dev broke Richard Headley’s record
In the third Test against Sri Lanka, Hashan Tillakaratne tried to play a long shot off Kapil Dev’s ball, but the ball fell directly into the hands of Sanjay Manjrekar. With this wicket, Kapil Dev became the highest wicket-taker of all time in Test cricket on 8 February 1994. It was his 432nd Test wicket and he broke the record of New Zealand great bowler Richard Headley.
Sachin made his first double century in a Test against New Zealand on 30 October 1999. He had scored an innings of 217 runs.
3) Sachin hit his first double century
Motera is also a memorable stadium for Master Blaster Sachin, the only batsman to play 200 Test matches in the world. Sachin crossed the 200-run mark for the first time on the second day of the third Test against New Zealand on 30 October 1999. Although this match was a draw. India had declared the innings at 583/7 with Sachin’s double century (217) and Sourav Ganguly-S Ramesh’s centuries in the first innings.
In response, the Kiwi team was all out at 308. India declared the second innings at 148/5. This gave the New Zealand team a target of 424 runs. New Zealand made 252/2 in the fourth innings and thus the match was a draw. Sachin is the only player to play 200 Tests. He scored 15921 runs in 329 innings at an average of 53.78. He has 51 centuries and 68 half-centuries.

4) Sachin became the first batsman to score 30 thousand runs
Sachin Tendulkar achieved the feat of scoring 30 thousand runs in Motera during the Test match against Sri Lanka in November 2009. In the 44th over of the final day of the first Test of the series, Tendulkar set the record by taking a single at deep square leg off Chanaka Welegedara’s in-swing ball. This match was also a draw.

5) In 2011, India eliminated defending champion Australia from the World Cup.
The 2011 Cricket World Cup was held in India. So the entire country had high expectations from the team. India faced defending champions Australia in the quarter-finals and Australia was the same team that had won 3 consecutive World Cups. Australia gave India a target of 261 runs in the first innings with the help of captain Ricky Ponting’s century (104). At the same time, Team India made the semi-finals by chasing the target in 47.4 overs. India was defeated by Australia in the 2015 semi-finals and New Zealand in the 2019 semi-finals. At the same time, now the 2023 ODI World Cup is to be held in India.
