Arrest in case of breach of privilege
Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court gave a shock to the Maharashtra government in the Arnab Goswami case. The court stayed the arrest of Arnab in the privilege breach case. The bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde has also issued notice to the Assembly Secretary. This notice has been given in connection with the letter written by Arnab. In the letter, the Secretary had warned Arnab not to state the notice of privilege breach of the notice of the top court of the Assembly.
The Supreme Court asked why a show cause notice of contempt of court cannot be issued against the Assembly Secretary? The Maharashtra Assembly Secretary had issued a privilege notice against Arnab for criticizing Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray.
