Singer Neha Bhasin of songs like ‘Jag Ghoomaya’ in ‘Sultan’, ‘Dil Diya Gallaan’ in ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ and ‘Chasani’ in ‘Bharat’ have been sexually harassed many times till now. She was talking about her personal life in an interview. According to him, she was molested by a stranger in Haridwar when she was 10 years old.
‘I ran away from it, surprised’
In conversation with news agency IANS, 37-year-old Neha told- At that time, I was 10 years old. My mother was standing at a distance from me in Haridwar, one of the religious places of the country. Suddenly a man came and put a wrong finger behind me I was surprised and ran away.
‘Dirty act even in a hall’
Neha continues- A few years later a man put a wrong hand on my chest in a hall. I remember these events clearly. I thought that was my fault. Now people come on social media and start harassing others mentally, physically, emotionally and religiously. I consider it faceless terrorism.
‘Rape threat received on social media’
Neha recalls cyber bulling saying that she was once threatened by raped and life-threatening fans of the K-pop band. She says- It all started when I supported another singer’s point of view.
I did not comment on the K-pop band. Just said that I am not a fan of this perticular band. After this I was trolled. I was threatened with raping and killing me. I’ve seen it all. I no longer shut up. I also complain to the police.
Events inspired song making
Neha believes that such incidents inspired her to create the song ‘Kahande Rahande’, which is against cyber bullying. The track aims to highlight slavery, shaming, sexism, cyber bullying and society’s stereotyping towards women. Neha says- No one should tolerate wrong. You should raise your voice against wrongdoings.
