The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued guidelines to reopen the long-closed college and university due to Corona. According to the guidelines issued by the Commission, educational institutions can extend teaching hours to complete syllabus in the academic year 2020-21. Also, the size of classes can also be reduced to protect students, teachers and other staff.

There will be a system of isolation in the campus

According to the new guidelines, all educational institutions can organize classes six days a week, so that more classes can be organized and the number of students in a class can also be reduced. According to the instructions of the UGC, the institute can call up to 50% of the students in any class. Apart from this, visitors will not be allowed on campus. Separate isolation will have to be maintained on campus if any student, teaching or non-teaching staff shows corona symptoms.

Educational institutions closed since 16 March

After the nationwide lockdown of 24 March, the unlocking process has started. In such a situation, the UGC also issued guidelines to reopen the college-university. The UGC has said that the state governments will decide to start physical classes in state universities and colleges. While the head of the Higher Education Institutes, which receives financial support from the center, will decide to open the campus to start classes between Corona.

These guidelines have to be followed:

  • A distance of six feet has to be maintained by following social distancing.
  • Mask or face scrub will be mandatory on campus.
  • Only institutions located outside the Containment Zone can be allowed to open.
  • Students and teachers living in the Containment Zone will not be allowed to attend college.
  • Faculty, staff and students are advised to use the Aayogya Setu App.
  • Spitting anywhere on campus would be a complete ban.
  • Covering the mouth and nose while coughing / sneezing should be strictly followed.
  • Due to the low number of PG students of all research courses and science technology courses, they can be called to college first.
  • Later, for the purpose of academic and placement, final year students can also be called as per the head of the institute.
