new Delhi: Amidst speculation of closure of the market in Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met the representatives of the Market Association of Delhi through video conferencing. These meetings were held with the aim of seeking the cooperation of the market association in controlling the growing corona infection in Delhi.
At the meeting, representatives of the market association assured the government to cooperate fully to prevent the infection of corona in the market place. CM Arvind Kejriwal made it clear that the Delhi government does not want to close any market. He appealed to the market association to make sure that if anyone found in the market without a mask, then they themselves should provide it free of cost.
Market association worried about market closure
In the meeting, the officials of the market association expressed their concern about the possibility of closing some one market in view of the corona infection, on which CM Arvind Kejriwal made it clear that the Delhi government does not want to close any market.
After talking to the market association, CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted and said, “Today I met the representatives of the market association. I have clarified my concern about closing the market and clarified that the government does not intend to close any market. People of the market association should ensure that if anyone is found in the market without a mask, then they should provide it free of cost. Also, all shopkeepers must also keep a hand sanitizer and mask at their shop.

CM Arvind Kejriwal said in another tweet, “Our Aam Aadmi Party MLAs, MPs, councilors and volunteers, all of you also go to public places and distribute free masks to those who are not wearing masks. This is the greatest patriotic and human service. I also want to request all political parties to ask their volunteers to distribute masks free of cost on the road. Come, let us stop the spread of corona through joint efforts. ”
Significantly, in view of the fast growing cases of Corona in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had asked to send a proposal to the Central Government to allow closure of some markets in case of congestion and rule violation. Since then, there were constant speculations that a partial lockdown could be imposed in Delhi. However, it has been clarified by the Delhi government that lockdown will not be imposed in Delhi.
