Public sector telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) may soon submit its 4G tender to Empowered Technology Group (ETG). This has been said in a media report. Principal Scientific Advisor K. E.G. Is Vijayaraghavan.
ETG advises on technology supplier and purchasing strategy
The ETG was formed to advise the government on technology suppliers and procurement strategies. This group advises both the central and state governments. It advises developing in-house expert policy, adopting emerging technologies and developing indigenous roadmaps for key technologies.

Employee unions accuse government of obstructing
Meanwhile, eight employee unions of BSNL have alleged that the government is obstructing the launch of 4G service. BSNL canceled the 4G tendered in March. BSNL was alleged that the tender was more inclined towards foreign vendors and this was not in line with the government’s vision to promote indigenous companies.
Countrywide strike called on 26 November
Against the government’s attitude, all 8 employees of BSNL unions called a nationwide strike on 26 November. In a joint statement, the unions have said that BSNL’s revival has become a distant dream. The government has not yet taken any step in this direction. Apart from this, the government is also creating obstacles in launching BSNL’s 4G service.
